Q:
Does my child have to surf?
A:
No. Our camp is designed as an introduction to everything
great about the beach and the ocean. We encourage
each child
to
pursue their particular interest and if that means
building sand castles all day, so be it. The only
things mandatory in camp are safety, etiquette and
following the rules.
Q:
Can someone other than a legal guardian drop off/pick
up my child?
A:
Yes... but the legal guardian/s must make it clear
to the Ocean Adventures staff beforehand in order
to avoid complications.
In
other words - we won't let your child go home with
someone other than you, without your consent.
Q:
How do you avoid sunburn while playing at the beach
for 7 hours?
A:
Three mandatory sunscreen applications per day and
proper beach clothing. Sunscreen application is our
responsibility and campers learn quickly that they
won't be allowed back in the water until their exposed
body parts are covered. The tubes of sunscreen/block
and lycra rash guards/UV protection garb including
wide brimmed hats and sunglasses are your responsibility.
Please pack your child with plenty of sunblock and
sun protection.
Q:
My child gets cold easy, how will you keep her/him
warm?
A:
We have some spring style short arm and leg wetsuits
that usually do the trick during summer. Otherwise
we make shivering fish-children play beach games until
they're warm again. If your child owns or can borrow
a wetsuit please utilize it. We buy old wetsuits if
you want to get rid of any.
Q:
Can I visit my child during camp?
A:
Yes! We always encourage parents to come hang out
with us at the Lane. Any day of the week just drop
by... but don't forget your swim suit!
